LOL is a 2012 American teen romantic comedy-drama film written and directed by Lisa Azuelos. A remake of the 2009 French film LOL (Laughing Out Loud) (also directed by Azuelos), the film stars Miley Cyrus, Demi Moore, Ashley Greene, and Adam Sevani. In the film, after Lola (Cyrus) is heart broken by a break-up with her boyfriend Chad (George Finn), her world turns upside-down when she realizes that her best friend, Kyle (Douglas Booth), could actually be the love of her life, all the while navigating her way through usual teen pressures of romance, friendship and overprotective parents (Demi Moore, Thomas Jane). It received a limited release in the United States on May 4, 2012, by Lionsgate. The film received mostly negative reviews from film critics and grossed $10. 5 million against a production budget of $11 million. Plot Lola 'Lol' Williams leads an ordinary life in Chicago, with her boyfriend Chad and best friends Emily, Janice, and Kyle. When they return to school, after summer vacation, Lol discovers that Chad has cheated on her over the summer, so the two of them break up. Lol and Kyle begin to realize that they have feelings for each other and pursue a relationship, but this is difficult due to the fact that Chad and Kyle are best friends, and Lol's nemesis, Ashley, likes to flirt with several guys at school and has a crush on Kyle. Kyle and his band, No Shampoo, including Chad, want to compete in the battle of the bands, but Kyle's father does not support his passion for music and feels that it is getting in the way of his schoolwork. The situation is further complicated by Chad's jealousy towards Lol and Kyle's new relationship.
